Kitty Flanagan offends – accused of bigotry and hate speech

The Australian Catholic League is every so slightly miffed at Kitty Flanagan for having a dig at Catholic beliefs in her segment on Channel Ten’s 7pm project. The Australian Catholic league had this to say:

Catholic Church out of touch, out of love, out of compassion

…when it comes to the Brazillian abortion furore.

Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva showed great courage and compassion in criticising the actions of the Catholic Church in relation to the comments and threatened excommunication of people involved in the abortion of a 9 year old girls twins.

 He is quoted as saying,

A nine-year-old girl who was carrying twins, allegedly after being raped by her stepfather, has undergone an abortion despite complaints from Brazil’s Catholic Church. [source]

The crime itself is sickening, the attitude of the church is almost more so.  The girl

is raped by her step father

Holding Victorians Hostage

Melbourne’s Catholic Archbishop Dennis Hart issued a threat to the Victorian state government raising the possibility of the closure of the Catholic Churches Maternity and Emergency wards as a result of the Victorian government passing laws to to require all doctors who have an objection to performing an abortion to make a referral.
