I haven’t listened to SGU for a while (there’re only so many hours in a day), but damn! She is good.
I doff my (metaphorical) hat to her for making this, and to you for showing it.
Well she does have a degree in communication
. I do try to listen to SGU as often as I can, its good to run or ride to. I think she is a good balance to the testosterone on the SGU podcast as well. That and I find most female voices more pleasant to listen to (sure there is a study to back that up):D
Without criticising Ms Watson, who I admire greatly, the problem here is not one of lack of facts; it is one of lack of objectivity. The people who are taken in by the McCarthy's of the world simply are not interested in the science, and the media they consume is not interested in responsible, objective journalism.
Science has an image problem in the mainstream. Until we have charismatic superstars jumping on Oprah's couch spouting reason and research, we will always run second to conspiracy theories and hippie nonsense.
