It’s roughly six weeks out from the convention and the last of the tickets have sold. The AFA (Atheist Foundation of Australia) had this to say in their press release:
“We are thrilled with the support for the Convention, from the presenters, the attendees and the many people who have volunteered their time and expertise. With over 2,500 attendees, the Global Atheist Convention will be the largest gathering of freethinkers in Australia’s history, and may be the largest atheist convention ever! The Convention will be a celebration of global atheism, a wonderful opportunity to hear the thoughts of scientists, philosophers, writers, comedians and many others, and a statement to political leaders of our concern about the negative effects of religion on society."
It really does put to bed that meme about atheists and cat herding.

Brilliant
That was funny.
On the other hand, if you had a billion cats, getting a couple of thousand going in any given direction would be hard to avoid.
I heard about 8 cats every evening, all it really requires is food
. I here that the GAC is going to be well catered for
