Compassion Australia quietly removing reference to Mercy Ministries?

One of my readers notes that an article I linked to in this post, has now disappeared or been removed.  I have emailed Compassion asking whether or not they are still sponsored by Mercy.

In searching around their site I found this information published in the 2006 Annual Report, under the list of directors:

Mr M Zschech
Compassion Australia Director since June 1999 and Company Secretary since 30 October 2002.

Experience and expertise
Company Executive Director

Other current directorships
Chairman of Mercy Ministries Incorporated Australia
Chair Hope Incorporated
Five Lines Incorporated
Mercy Ministries International

[source]

Just another example of the close ties between Mercy Ministries Australia, Mercy Ministries International and Compassion. In 2006 Mark was a Director in all three bodies.  A fact that makes claims by mercy supporters that the abuse at Australian Mercy Ministries was the result of a rogue organisation, a bad apple, look a little silly.

In looking at later annual reports I found that Mark resigned/left these directorships after 2006 but still resides on the following:

GMA – ANZ

The Gospel Music Association – Australia New Zealand

Which according to their site is devoted to:

Encouraging the growth of Christian music and related products and services that communicate the gospel of Jesus Christ throughout Australasia.
Increasing the role of Christian Music in the life of the Church at large.
Enhancing and broadening a positive image of Christian Music in the secular media, and working to penetrate the wider culture with Christian music.

And is sponsored by Compassion Australia

4bMedia

Four Billion Media

Whose mission is to:

To serve the 4 billion Poor in our world , bringing Hope and Spiritual formation through Biblical teaching.

By advocating media ministries to work in emerging countries, champion partnerships within these stakeholders and encourage indigenous produced media content that is relevant to local communities and that can touch the world.

So is Compassion distancing itself form the tarnished Mercy Brand? It would be nice for them to make a clear statement.

Please let us know if you get any type of reply from Compassion.

    • I did get an auto reply that signed me up automatically to their website, they say they will get back to me within 2 days. Shocking from a customer service/fundraising point of view
