This convention is cheap compared to most. In comparison to the last thing I went to, which was work related and also sponsored. It cost around $1,700 for 3 days (and that was the early bird price and is not including flights and accommodation). Conferences / conventions are not the cheapest things to run and without grants and sponsorship most would not go ahead. Unlike other events like the “Parliament of the World's Religions” the “Global Atheist Convention” is not sponsored or government funded. I am going to have to agree with Sean on this one. This convention is cheap compared to most.
