Well, it’s taken a bit longer to get back online and posting than I would have liked. Must be the fresh country air. More likely though it’s the unpacking of boxes, the constant frustration of not being able to remember where you packed the TV aerial cable, or the scrubbing brush.
That being said there are some compensatory factors, the view for example. The picture to your left is 2 minutes drive down my road and was taken the morning we had to drive to Adelaide for settlement (an occurrence worthy of its on post). Low level cloud rolling over the ranges and the windmills from the wind farm seemingly riding on them.
Then there’s view taken from the south east veranda where, as a country gentleman I have taken to having my morning tea
.
It is very quiet here, which has been surprisingly hard for me to adjust to. I am used to the constant chatter and interruption of clients and co-workers from 9-5, then its to the gym, followed by writing and twitter. The only thing making noise out here are the birds. I imagine I will get used to the absence of hoons in hotted up cars racing down my street, and the inconsiderate neighbours.
On the subject of neighbours, our new neighbours here have been very friendly, allowing us a couple of days isolation before dropping in to say hello. Almost all the land around us, from the ranges to the sea is owned by the same family. A family that has lived in the area for 3 generations and whose grandparents built the house I now live in.
Did I mention the house? I measured the main hall yesterday and its just shy of 20 metres long, just walking to the toilet is a workout session. Indeed at the moment we are having to grow into our house, we have taken up residence in the western rooms at this stage and are slowly expanding as we get more comfortable with the space.
*International readers may not get the relevance of the title, check out the Australian movie The Castle for what I am alluding to here.

What gorgeous views! That'd be the new Snowtown Wind Farm in the distance??? I've seen the Brown Hill wind farm over on the Wilkins Hwy when it was first completed a few years ago, looking forward to seeing the Snowtown one. It's great seeing so many wind farms going up around Australia.
The quiet of life in the rural areas does take some getting used to. Especially at night. It's a sound to be felt and treasured.
Quite possibly
We have to drive up through the farm to get to Adelaide, so I am sure we will get to see them once a month or so. How's Alice?
Glad to have you back Sean
Its good to be back, although I will have to curtail me internet activity due to costs:'(
"The only thing making noise out here are the birds."
And that is so bloody annoying! :p
Visiting as soon as the wheel alignment is done.
Cheers
Lucy and Murray. (honk!)
We have a spare hen house
What a country this land of Oz.. Those beautiful clouds are something special. I'm not familiar with your spot but like most of this amazing land it is very special. Over here in the west it is different again even in suburban Perth there is always great skies, great light and the beautiful winged creatures. How fortunate to be here.
Very nice photo's Sean. Wish I was there to enjoy the view.
What a beautiful place to live. I'm green with envy.
it has its cons, like being miles from anywhere, so when you forget your shopping bags it's a half hour drive
