Cameron Reilly has put me on to Tokbox, a free video conferencing site that allows you to
- video conference call with up to 20? individuals at the one time
- share photo’s movies and slideshows with those individuals
- record public posts sort of like Seesmic which users can comment on or respond to with video
- place a recorder on your website so that visitors can leave you video messages (like the one below)
Cameron intends to use it instead of Ustream for his scheduled live show next week.
I don’t know if it will actually record conferences though. I think that this would be a nice feature. It’s all live chat too so it doesn’t have editing features.
I can see this being useful for atheist and skeptical meetings.
Anywho drop me a recording below and let me know what you think.

Hi,
Video recording is something we hope to have in the future.
That would be excellent Damon. I am thinking of being able to record interviews with participants in different locationsxD
Jing and Screenflow *might* be services you can use to achieve video recording on the Tokbox site (some people apparently have).
Thanks for the heads up. I tried my first video conferencing last night, just with one other person. The first lagged a bit the second was so bad I had to resort to typing IM's
Hi Sean,
What kind of internet connection were you on? How about the other party? Keep in mind that the lag could be a result of internet connection quality, other applications running at the same time, etc. Also…recommend wired over wireless (wireless can drop in and out).
