Atheist Alliance International and The Atheist Foundation of Australia are combining to present an Australian Atheist convention in March of 2010.
David Nicholls, AFA President had this to say:
Wonderful news everyone! A very exciting occasion is heading our way next year. Atheist Alliance International, of which the Atheist Foundation of Australia Inc is a member, is proposing we combine with them in having a convention in Melbourne in March 2010.
With guest speakers the calibre of Richard Dawkins, Phillip Adams, Catherine Deveny, and yet to be finalised notable international and national presenters, it will be a once-in-a-lifetime event not to be missed.
The convention will run from Friday night 12 March until Sunday midday with the cost of registration and meals about $250 per person and less for concessions. The theme is “The Rise of Atheism.”

As Ozatheist has pointed out this is a chance to not only see international luminaries but to catch up with the Australian Atheist blogging contingent.

Looks like a great time will be had by all. Sorry I'll have to miss it.
Damn I had just made up the spare room
No! No! No! I was thinking about this the other day…that I'd really like there to be one in Australia with Dawkins as a guest…I'm so upset now, though. I'll be going back to the UK in September 09
How sad that I miss out on this opportunity. Even though it's on the other side, I would give up some time to go
You will be able to see him in England presumably
Tickets now available…convention website is @ http://www.atheistconvention.org.au
Thanks for the update
I’ve bought my tickets!
I’m looking forward to going. I live in NSW, but it’s worth a trip to VIC to go to such an event.
It will be a blast, a momentous occasion.
It seems that the AFA and convention websites are under a sustained DDoS attack, and have been pulled offline to prevent disruption to the hosters other customers.
Indeed Ian. Nearly 5 hours now. Our host have confirmed AFA is the target. 2/3 of our hosts clients are still limited and have NO international traffic yet. Optus Network is down in places as well.. Damn.. at $3/G a 500Mbps DDoS attack adds up…
Just got word the attack is now at 1Gbps according to Optus
Thanks Davo and Protium
