It appears that Jay Hodge a director on the board of Mercy Ministries(America) and a 4th circut solicitor is being investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation for
- alleged misappropriation of funds from drug courts and pretrial intervention programs
- alleged misappropriation of Mercy Ministries funds
- using said monies to finance improvements to his personal dwelling and rental properties
This is interesting since Mercy Ministries of America has been recently endorsed by the Evangelical Council for Financial Accountability (ECFA). According to FITSnews Mercy Ministries financial records have been subpoenaed.
So how far does the rot go? The exploitation of residents or attendees occurred at Mercy Ministries Australia -residents washed staff cars.
Is this indicative of an attitude common to Mercy Ministries administration?
Stay tuned.

The ECFA also endorsed PTL run by Jim and Tammy Bakker. I don't think they have a very good track record.
Oh that's priceless OG.

seems it's not only Mercy that doesn't have properly trained counsellors!
There seems to be some uncertainty as to whether of not the Mercy Ministries located in South Carolina is at all affiliated with Mercy Ministries of America.=/
How hard can it be to embezzle from a company that doesn't have to show its books to anyone, and is arrogant about its charity and welfare tax status? This is just the guy who got caught. Perhaps it is just an intricate web of embezzlement…only if we all stay friends….One wonders where the leak came from..and how the rest are carrying on regardless. .
Well religion is just one big tax dodge anyway. By the way we need to catch up don't we
Sean, Mercy almost didn't get its ECFA accredidation. A former Mercy resident and myself wrote them, which prompted an investigation into Mercy's actions in Australia. Unfortunately, the ECFA took the easy way out.
Oh boy I can see an opening for Nancy in the old eastern block nations:D
Yes I heard the ol' "Australian Mercy is financial and legally separate from Mercy Ministries of America" line saved them. Mind you I would be distinctly suspicious of any organisation with evangelical in the title:)
Financially and legally separate in the same way as McDonalds and Borders, I think. Both being companies I trust implicitly.
Actually I think that the relationship is closer than that with Mercy, smaller group of people, much more incestuous
The sad thing is with the ECFA endorsement, people who because of this will donate more money to Mercy inspite of its past. When asked about Mercy Australia, they will deny that they had anything to do with it.
This truly makes me sick. I remember working at a board member's house who made "Donations" to Mercy and we were paid by Mercy for our work. Of course, minus our tithe. Knowing what I know about non-profit organizations and tax laws, this was totally bogus and if there were proof of this, I'm sure it would be considered criminal by the courts. I also understand that a non-profit under "Charity" is not to be part of political agenda, but I know for a fact that Mercy certainly involves it's self politically, by having girls make phone calls for candidates, Mercy has a picture of Nancy with former President Bush on her wall in Nashville.
Gerry, this was in the states? I would be interested in talking with you about the working for donors and the political work that you said went on. Email me at sbwright at gmail dot com
You know, no other country is lax about allowing illegal immigrants to stay.. Europe is extremely hard to dupe, and it’s hard to even get citizenship in a lot of EU countries… but once again America is full of bleeding hearts who would rather band-aid the problem by sticking up for these people instead if suggesting attacking the problem head on and helping them make their own countries better
