I ain’t drivin’ no stikin’ Atheist Bus

Well okay, Ron Heather, 62, an evangelical Christian bus driver didn’t say that but he:

refused to drive a bus bearing an advert from a national campaign aimed at persuading more people to “come out” as atheists.[source]

Apparently he was so offended that he was unable to drive and was sent home. He was particularly offended by the website http://www.atheistcampaign.org/ pictured below.

I can understand where he’s coming from, I mean, I detest pink headlines myself.  Good old Ron bless him, sees this as an attack on peoples faith.  He’s worried that a lot of old folk who travel on his bus are on their last legs and it might upset them.

Perhaps this is Ron’s fear, but to assume that all of those elderly travelers are believers is awfully arrogant, to assume that some of them (who would have lived through the war) would be shaken by a few words is extremely patronising.

So now Ron has been accommodated and won’t have to drive an atheist bus unless there are no others (wonder how his coworkers feel?)

Does Ron refuse to drive buses with sexy young lasses advertising perfume or lingerie?

Is Ron’s faith really that shaky?
