I seem to recall that Nancy’s response to finding out that the Australian branch had been taking Centrelink (social security)payments off residents, was one of shock and denial.
It is of course against her fundamental principles:
As she began to lay the groundwork for the establishment of the ministry, she knew that there were three principles to which she must always remain faithful:
1) do not take any state or federal funding that may limit the freedom to teach Christian principles,
2) accept girls free of charge, and
3) always give at least ten percent of all Mercy Ministries’ donations to other organizations and ministries.
Well the generous amongst us may forgive Nancy for being a little ign’ant (despite her 178,000 year salary) of what those folks do "over thar in Ostralia". But when it seems they do the same thing in the UK, well I am inclined to call it.
From the UK facility’s FAQ point 6 :
The Mercy Ministries programme is provided free of charge, including accommodation, food, heating, electricity and any other bills.
We do however stipulate that to cover personal costs of toiletries, clothing and other essentials residents should have a minimum of around £50 per month income secured from DSS benefits, family support or a sponsor.
Please contact our office and speak with the Intake Co-ordinator if you would like more information about this.
What say ya’ll?

Nancy, also can't get her stats right. According to this, her success rate is only 75% a year. A few percentage points a mistake maybe. 18%, not so much.
Thanks John, some very interesting information there. I fel a post formulating
