It’s Just Pron Mom…

Bobbistarr-avn2007 Warning: While this post does not contain adult images some of the links contained herein may lead to adult sites or information.

Our town has recently been set all a flutter (not really-just some religious blowhards) by the arrival of Miss Bobbie Starr -Starlet of the Year 2007.

Now the discussion and consumption of pornography/erotica is nothing if not controversial.  People tend to have very set opinions about the topic, most of it based upon erroneous preconceptions about the industry, its consumers, and the so called dangers of.

The Potters House and the local Mormons have

  • claimed a causal link between the watching of erotica and rape
  • claimed a causal link between the watching of porn and marriage breakdown

Neither of which they can back up with so called "well documented evidence" – so well documented it seems that they could not cite any.

A local, whose church affiliation was unstated, expressed concern for her teenage(15 year old daughter).

Seriously, you would think that Miss Starr is going to be dancing naked across the tarmac and giving career talks at the local religious school.

Below is the letter that I sent to the paper(click to enlarge):

Now just who is Miss Starr?

Is her tale one of woe?

A struggle to climb out of  poverty from trailer trash beginnings, forced to participate in sex acts against her better judgement just to make ends meet?

No, her story is refreshing and contrary to what some would believe not that uncommon.

Starr was brought up in an evangelical Christian church, where her mother was very involved in the church choir and drama programs.   Starr went on to attend music school and plays the piano and oboe.

She started her pornography career at the age of 23. She met someone who introduced her to the adult industry in San Francisco, California, but it took a year before she decided to enter the industry . Her initial works were bondage and submission scenes for internet based companies. She then transitioned to shooting various types of scenes for production companies in Los Angeles, California.

Starr considers herself a pro-sex feminist. Even though she acknowledges that some feminists consider pornography to be degrading to women, Starr asserts, "I don’t feel degraded because it is my decision. I know that if I did ever feel degraded or feel uncomfortable, all I need to do is say no and it would stop. I don’t think something where women have so much control in the situation can be considered degrading towards women."

As of 2008, Starr is a student studying pre-med, with the aim of becoming a gynaecologist. Her intent is to work within the adult entertainment industry, where she has identified a lack of female gynaecologists.

I will be attempting to film protests outside our local Horny Devils Boutique, should any of the Crazies turn up.  I will also try and get an interview with Ms Starr.

I love porn. I am a woman and I don’t think it harms women or marriage in any way. I also have an extensive erotica fiction collection (books not movies, I prefer to read my erotica). I may have also writen a few pieces of erotic poetry in my younger days..

I must sadly admit that I have not seen any of Bobbies work specifically . Got no problem admiting that I have watched and written erotic material.

You know one interesting precursor to sexual assault is not porn but evidence of sexual repression – who da thunk?

It makes me so angry that public policy is made on unsubstantiated rantings from the religious when there is abundant evidence that the religious abuse – 12 % of Catholic clergy in Australia have been to court for sexual abuse.

    Grrr

    Nipple clamps and leather :D

I prefer to read my erotica, but I can tell you I too have an extensive collection. I have also been known to watch some porn too.

There’s nothing wrong with erotica and porn, and I believe it gives life a bit of spice. It doesn’t harm women or marriage/relationships, if consumed wisely.

I believe those who have been allowed to explore themselves and their sexuality have less problems with sex, than those who have grown up with the subject of sex as taboo.

FYI, I noticed that you scratched your last name out on the article, but it’s still pretty easy to read. Not to mention it is in the URL for the image itself. If it is important to you to keep it secret, you may want to do something about that.

    –just another porn-watcher

  5. Sean the Blogonaut F.C.D. says:

Yeah I realised after – Nah it’s not that secret.

Psst can you sign in under a name next time – it can be a false one.

Just helps distinguish all the anonimi

  6. John Evo says:

I suggest the name Pornomaniac for “Anonymous”.

By the way, you apparently misspelled “Porn” in the title of the post. Unless that has some edgy little double meaning that I’m not quick enough to get.

  7. tina FCD says:

I was going to say the same thing Evo. :)
I have a different take on porn not harming a marriage. But I won’t go into it here. I realize if used wisely, like make your own, it does enhance the sex. :)

  8. Fiery says:

I'm with you Poodles. I love me some written erotica. Reading and writing it actually.

Now I'd like to pause a moment and think about Sean wearing nipple clamps and leather. >:)

Yep that's a nice image. Still has the shades on too. *snerk*

  9. tina FCD says:

    Fiery, you crack me up!
But don’t make him wear that weird ball thing in his mouth, we need to hear him speak in that accent…:)

  10. Sean the Blogonaut F.C.D. says:

    John,

The misspelling is deliberate (fiery should get it)ie like teh for the, pron for porn is a common mispelling I was trying to be elitist :) . I was also concrned that if people were viewing from work they might get in trouble if the title had porn in it.

  11. Sean the Blogonaut F.C.D. says:

    Tina,

I don’t claim that porn is not involved in the breakdown of marriage there are a lot of factors usually.

Porn is an outlet for some, and a healthy one. When trouble occurs in a marriage though, anyting used to avoid addressing the problem can become an issue.

For some men and women trouble in the marriage will result in them working longer hours to avoid dealing with problems at home, likewise some take to the bottle.

The problem with porn is that its an easy out because of the stigma attached to it. Much easier to blame porn than to look at deeper causes.

Then there are people with addictive personality types who may have trouble controlling any activity that causes pleasure.

I think the more that people demystify porn and become more comfortable with sexuality the less problems we will have in that regard.

  12. Sean the Blogonaut F.C.D. says:

It only took 10 posts and you girls have got me gagged and nipple clamped :o

  13. Fiery says:

    I’ve got bagsies!
