The Prophet Nancy

Forwarded on from a reader, the video below is of Nancy Alcorn, founder of Mercy Ministries.  It’s long, almost an hour, but she has some interesting things to say about demonic oppression, casting out demons(around the 20 minute mark).

She also attributes Lesbianism to a women being unattractive and/or abused by men.

No, we’re not anti-gay we’re just pro-heterosexual.

I think this post would have been more aptly titled “The Profit Nancy”

    Michelle,

The thought had crossed my mind :)

So it’s her belief that lesbians are women that feel unattractive/unworthy of men’s attention or have been abused by men, so they “wrongly” turn to women as an alternative choice? um…there’s NO choice where sexuality is concerned (perhaps bisexuals are a different story?). But what about women who have NEVER felt sexual attraction towards men, e.g. Ellen Degeneres, she’s always liked girls. What about differences in chromosomes/genes and the environment that activates them? ISn’t this what sexuality “is” and how it develops? Does this woman have ANY idea or understanding of human sexuality? What makes this bitch think she has a monopoly on truth?

The first few minutes were chilling because they could have come from stuff I saw in youth group growing up.

Even though I grew up with it, this brand of Christianity really bothers me.

I couldn’t do it. I tried listening for a bit, but I started getting crazy flashbacks to my own demon obsessed church days when they kept trying to cast demons out of me and I kept letting them.

I do regret that they never where able to bind that spirit of gluttony…

    peterson–

I know how you feel. I have had to go back through all my old notes, pictures, correspondence, and read much material, etc from and about Nancy Alcorn, which has sometimes been very hard, and has brought back a lot of traumatic memories.

It been particularly hard when I read through old letters and think of all that I saw going on around me in regard to the other girls, and that I did nothing to help them. I am just trying to focus on the fact that I can be an advocate for them now.

I’ve worked really hard at trying to step back emotionally and look at things from an academic POV and keep talking to friends who can affirm that I’m not crazy for being so hurt and upset by what went/goes on there.

anonymous…you said it right, she does think she has a monopoly on the truth. Why? Because, according to her, god speaks directly to her.

Which, IMO, is insane. Of all these pentecostal Christians, I often wonder how many honestly think they hear god “whisper in the hearts” or some such nonsense, and who among them just uses the “god told me to” argument just to manipulate and control other people.

Does anyone else think Nancy might have turned to girls at some stage.

Come on a female gym instructor at a girls correctional facility its almost a cliche.

    Is Nancy a repressed lesbian?

    Peterson,

Sorry for any discomfort caused. I was only exposed to Catholic Youth group as a teen.

We managed to get kicked off the resort we camped at. We rolled the drunk priest (our supervisor)who was asleep in the back of a utility into the middle of a dry riverbed.

The only part of my catholic education that was worthwhile?

    Anon,

Married to the sea was hilarious, thanks.

Yes, I’d say that given her past as a female gym instructor at a girls correctional facility, her outright hatred for lesbianism is most probably a form of “reverse” psychological projection, by turning what she can’t subconsciously accept about herself into a target. It’s a good thing religion has a narrow-minded scope of what is morally acceptable in regards to sexuality…it makes her plight even easier?

    Sean, In a word: YES!

I really wanted to name my blog, “Mercy Ministries of America: Truth Will Out (Nancy Alcorn who is a huge homophobic closet case)”. But, I thought that would be a bit much. And having no proof, come close to defamation of character. So, I had to settle for the abbreviated title with her face behind it. *sigh*
