I recently participated in a blog carnival – Carnival of the Godless #91. My reasons for this were two fold.
- I wanted something that would motivate me to lift my game, to put together a post that was worthy of exposure to the wider atheist audience.
- I must confess that I wanted to expose readers to the wonder that is Sean the Blogonaut – (exposing myself, ooh err).
I must say that all round it was success. I did craft something I felt was worthy(it got published) and to date I have had 132 hits from State of Protest (where the carnival was held).
So come on you atheist bloggers, contribute, you’ll push yourself and you might even gain some subscribers out of it.
Note: The Carnival is in need of hosts please help out if you can

I’m not sure how desperate they are for hosts, I offered a few days ago and haven’t heard anything back yet.
Also, myself and at least one other, asked the question ‘what’s involved’ again, to-date no answer.
As you said Sean- In all that spare time I have …..
seriously- this week I have a list of things I want to do in order to keep my sanity- many of which include walking in the countryside on my own at some point – maybe when I retire- oops no! I’m going into private practice when that happens lol
However, I did enjoy your post for the carnival and I agree it does put things up a notch or two and let me discover some new blogs.
Oz,
I hear you mate. I offered too and nothing. On a somewhat related note it might be worth checking out

Its an Australian centric skeptical blog circle.
PD,
Thanks for the positive feedback. I am going to write a post on standards and blogging as well when I get around to it.
I’ll look forward to that
my head is too full up with thoughts on the ‘functionality of anorexia’ to do any real blogging right now lol
I think it was well worth it. I got to visit a number of blogs I hadn’t heard of before, and to experience a variety of points of view from a rational perspective. I think it can be a bit tedious to keep up with carnivals (perhaps we should make the entire thing like a relay, and subsequent hosts take full control over the carnival — but that might be logistically impossible), but it certainly broadens the readership of all the involved blogs, and my idea of progressive rationalism is, in part, the dissemination of information.
Procrustes,
On the dissemination of ideas and info alone it was good. I am suggesting that it is also good from a marketing perspective as well.
