A Religious Australia

I still maintain that Australia is a fairly religiously apathetic country, we often don’t care about religion or politcs for that matter, until its too late.

I was fairly content that while I have observed the clamouring of the religious beginning to increase, that there was still time to “head them of at the pass”.

The following link leads to a website that campaigns against the recent Chaplaincy program for government schools. It also lists a number of facts regarding the free ride Christianity seems to have got since John Winston Howard came to power.

So my American readers it seems you are not alone – our Prime Minister is just less vocal and more underhanded than your President.

John Howard ‘I have endeavoured, completely inadequately, to live as best as I can according to the basic tenets of the Christian religion … there is no force which is greater for the enhancement of individuals and the liberation of the human spirit.’

no force greater???? GREATER???? for the enhancement of individuals….

How did he get that lie from between his teeth with a straight face? Religion is not about individuals or liberation. It is about abject servitude to a cruel master invented by the slave drivers themselves.

Less vocal and more underhanded than Bush? Shit, I didn’t know that was possible. My condolences.
